Locating in the Highlands and Islands

Securing the greatest level of economic benefits from the growth of the renewable energy sector will only be achieved by activity of indigenous local companies, and the inward investment of companies able to fill gaps in the supply chain.

Adopting a holistic approach is therefore crucial if the region is to attract in new companies and help create extra renewable energy jobs in the process. Making sure all the pieces are in place is the task of the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) network.

The economic development agency has a dedicated inward investment team who work closely with companies hoping to locate in the Highlands and Islands. They offer comprehensive assistance, from the provision of general information to help finding trading partners and assistance with identifying suitable locations and property.

In some instances, discretionary financial assistance may also be available. HIE operates its own financial support schemes, developing tailored packages to meet the needs of individual clients.
